This year for our 6th Anniversary my husband and I decided to head down to the Bahamas and stay at the beautiful Baha Mar. We like to go somewhere different every year to celebrate, but its been tricky since we have moved across country the last 4 years! Now that we are finally settled and are NOT moving again (I swear!) we wanted to take a nice relaxing trip to paradise. Friends, let me just tell you Baha Mar is a tropical pastel dream located on the beach with the prettiest turquoise water!

Baha Mar has 3 resorts on their property, the Grand Hyatt, the SLS, and the Rosewood. After getting a few recommendations we decided to stay at the Grand Hyatt which is centrally located and has amazing views of the pools and the ocean! As soon as we arrived we felt like we were pulling up to the Wynn in Las Vegas. Everything was so grand and breathtaking!

THE ROOM

We stayed in an Ocean View Deluxe King with a Balcony and it was perfect for us. The decor was mostly blues and whites and had a modern coastal vibe. The beautiful marble filled bathroom had great lighting and an amazing bath tub, the best part was you could open up the large sliding doors and see the view outside. The bed is perfectly placed facing the ocean and the view was amazing! Definitely worth upgrading to have a balcony, it was the perfect size for the two of us. My favorite parts of the room were the whimsical mirror in the hallway, the modern doors and the mermaid sconces! There is also a coffee maker and coffee in the room and you receive 2 complimentary bottles of water daily.

THE PROPERTY

The day we arrived we started to explore and neither of us had any idea how large this property was! Everywhere you turn there is another pool, restaurant, bar, or beautiful view. Baha Mar has the largest casino in the Caribbean and is very clean and has a ton of machines and tables! Oh and they have a sports book for those wondering too! The grounds were filled with all of my favorite tropical plants and flowers and impeccably kept. There are multiple pools- I think we counted 10 total (including SLS and Rosewood). There is a pool with a swim up bar, one with a cliff jump, quite a few for lounging and a grotto where you can swim under a waterfall to get a close up view of the sharks and sea turtles! Every pool had such a different vibe and we had so much fun experiencing each one! I just loved the SLS pool- it was so colorful! If you are up for a party there is also the Privilege Pool at the SLS which has a DJ daily. There were plenty of lounge chairs available at all of the pools with food and beverage servers. There is also a long stretch of private beach behind the hotel with lots of chairs and umbrellas. There are kayaks and paddle boards for guests use as well as huge floats anchored in the water to float on too! There is also a long pier that you can walk out on to get a better view of that amazing water!

THE FOOD

We had soooo many amazing meals! Like the pools, we kept finding new restaurants everyday! Here is a breakdown with some of our favorites 🙂

Fi’lia– We stopped in this Italian restaurant on our arrival day for a few bites and they were delicious! Our favorite was the Grilled Octopus! We also tried the spicy pepperoni pizza and the meatballs, yum! We meant to go back for a full dinner but ran out of time. We heard the pasta dishes are amazing!

Costa– We found this beautiful Mexican Coastal restaurant on day 3 while walking around behind the Rosewood. We saw the open-air cabanas overlooking Rosewood’s lush gardens and pools and knew we wanted to check it out! Before dinner we had a drink at the outdoor bar right at the entrance of Costa. The bartenders were super friendly and knowledgable and made amazing drinks! For dinner we split the guacamole and decided to try all of the tacos! Our favorite was the Asado Con Chorizo. We loved the atmosphere here, sitting outside it the cozy bungalows was so romantic!

Cleo– A Mediterranean inspired restaurant -Our favorite on the property! We celebrated our Anniversary dinner here and they really made it so special for us. We absolutely loved the ambiance and the food but the service just made it such a special night. For dinner we ordered the feta & lebaneh, the spicy cigars, the mushroom flatbread and the lamb shawarma. Everything was sooooo tasty! For dessert we decided on the sticky toffee pudding and it was delivered by most of the staff signing and dancing! And even a special little solo afterwards! It was so much fun! We enjoyed Cleo so much we decided to go back on our last night for dinner too! The 2nd time around we reordered most of the same plates but tried the skirt steak kabob and it was just as great as everything else.

Since most of the day we were out by the pool and beach we went for more casual lunches. Baha Mar has the cutest retro style airstreams food trucks! We tried El Jefe– taco and specialty margaritas, Sandy Dog– gourmet hotdogs, and Sliderz for some awesome sliders! A few of the places were temporarily closed while we were there so when we go back we hope to try the Da Poke Bowl and Flame to Smoke. There is actually a list of places we want to try when we go back, including the cutest Cafe Madeleine that we didn’t find until right before leaving, The Swimming Pig, and Katsuya which were all recommended to us but we ran out of time!

We kept it super light for breakfast with a piece of fruit from the gym and a Starbucks 🙂 But I hear they have some awesome breakfast options!

Every night after dinner we would gamble a little and then head to The Blue Note– a jazz bar with great drinks and awesome service. They have nightly live music, while we were there it was the Jazz Trio who played a variety of fun songs and even took special requests! They were so good! You can lounge and listen or get up and dance, we did a little of both! A perfect night cap to end our fun filled days.

THE SPA & GYM

ESPA was beautiful! Reminded me a lot of the Canyon Ranch and M Resort spas in Vegas! Everything was very grand, it was light, bright, clean and modern- so stunning! Perfect for a relaxing treatment! There is also a state of the art fitness facility with amazing views of the property and the ocean. They even have a couple of spin bikes on a balcony so you can ride outside! All of the machines were new and they offered towels, water and fruit too. It was the perfect way to start our morning in paradise everyday!

THE SHOPPING

Baha Mar has some beautiful high end stores and a couple cute little shops but I was most excited that they recently opened a LILLY PULITZER!! My sweet hubby even bought me this fun fish dress in the pic below from there- yay!

THE SERVICE

From the second we pulled up to the property we were blown away by the service. I spent 10+ years in the hospitality industry in Vegas and can really appreciate great service and friendly, kind employees (fun fact- I’m still on the website of the hotel I worked at for years ;). Anyway, every person we came in contact with from the door men, the front desk agents, to the security guards and the pool bartenders, everyone was so accommodating and provided excellent service. This made the trip!
