Coastal Tablescape

Hostess blogger, Jill DiGioia shares a blue and white coastal tablescape with a shell centerpiece.

Setting the Summer Vibe with a Blue and White Coastal Tablescape

The perfect way to kick off the summer season is by decorating your home and I like to start with setting the table. This theme not only brings a fresh, airy vibe to your space but also gives you a feeling of beachside living. Here’s how you can set a blue and white coastal tablescape!

blue and white striped table runner

To set the foundation for my coastal tablescape, I started with the cutest blue and white striped table runner. The linen material is not only durable but also adds a classic touch setting the perfect tone for the rest of the decor.

A large shell shaped bowl is shown.

I added a large scallop shell pot as a centerpiece. This versatile piece has been a staple in my decor arsenal. It has served as an ice bucket, a champagne chiller, a snack holder for parties, and now, my favorite use yet, a vase for fresh flowers. Filled with blue and white hydrangeas, the shell becomes a stunning focal point, really bringing in the coastal aesthetic!

A glass candle holder with a clear base.

No tablescape is complete without some candlelight! I chose these pedestal tea light holders that perfectly match the coastal vibe. The soft glow from the tea lights adds a warm, inviting ambiance to the table. I also scattered a few smaller blue and white candles across the table to enhance the seaside feel.

A gold ring with two shells on it.

To add just a touch of beach vibes without overdoing it, I used these gold shell napkin ring holders. I actually have a bracelet that looks very similar so I just had to get them and will be using all summer long!

A stack of six round woven mats on top of each other.

Wicker always reminds me of summer, so adding these woven placemats was a no-brainer! They bring texture and a natural element to the tablescape, giving coastal and summer vibes. The color of wicker complements the blue and white theme so well too.

A stack of folded paper towels on top of each other.

To add a pop of color, I chose these light blue napkins that contrast perfectly with the white plates. I have these cloth napkins in 5 different colors! Great quality and they really help bring the whole table together!

A stack of white plates with black lines on them.

For a classic, simple look I used my favorite white plates. These beauties are not only sturdy but also provide a clean canvas for the rest of the decor. We bought this whole set 4 years ago and they are still like new!

A set of gold plated flatware with spoons, forks and knives.

We love using this Brushed Gold Flatware! For years I would only bring them out for special occasions, now every day is a day to celebrate, so you will find them on most of my tablescapes! And I just love how the gold compliments the coastal vibe.

A wine glass with a clear stem and base.

No tablescape is complete without beautiful glassware. This time, I opted for coupe glasses, perfect for the brunch I planned with friends. These versatile glasses can be used for martinis, mimosas, mixed drinks, and champagne. I especially love using silicone molds to create fun ice cubes for these glasses, adding an extra touch of creativity to our drinks.

A table with blue and white flowers in it

To complete the coastal tablescape, I added a few smaller vases with the extra hydrangeas around the table. This not only spread the beautiful flowers throughout the space but also tied in the main floral arrangement. I also scattered a few smaller blue and white candles across the table to add to the seaside feel.

I hope this inspires you to create your own coastal tablescape! These are all versatile items that I already own and love using. The best part is that once you have them, you can mix and match for different themes!
